How we grew… Success doesn’t come easy, right? That might be true if you aren’t willing to put in the effort and more importantly – in the right direction. We know that even an endless force would fail to overcome an obstacle if we fail to apply it at the right angle. The same goes for business development. So how did we grow our company by 1300% in less than a year?
It wasn’t “easy” for sure. We did have to constantly work outside of our comfort zone. That’s mandatory – if you are looking to stay within the cozy frame of a predictable reality, this isn’t for you. Scalable success comes at the cost of living outside of the box and doing so constantly.
1: No days off!
Rule Number One – 1. Value your team, help them grow, and reward the hardworking ones. Avoid as much as possible the corporate BS stuff like HR departments and retarded presents like cheap branded backpacks. People are not dumb! They can easily perceive the value of your rewards. Define a transparent and meaningful bonus scheme and fair roadmap stages.
Don’t make them follow redundant rules that don’t translate into tangible gains on the productive side. What if your front-end engineer is 1h late for work? Does he directly work with a client? Do you need him to open the shop so that kids can buy candy? Most probably no, thus leave the dude alone – he will be thankful and much more productive if you don’t get in their way and leave them to live their life with the tiny bit of freedom you can provide.

2: Never give up and stay strong
There were hard times and there will be hard times. At a certain point, we lost all 5 of our clients within the course of a single month. Hard decisions had to be made in order for the company to survive.
And it isn’t always due to mistakes, sometimes life just happens and as our CEO loves to say “When it rains it pours”. Those Murphy’s laws are damn strong, trust us! But that doesn’t mean you’ve taken the wrong path. If you are persistent and sustain your hard work the ups will follow inevitably. When you look back a few years further down the line, you will realize that the ups and downs average in a stable line upwards.
No effort is lost – consider this whole endeavor an adventure. As Bill X was saying – it’s just a ride, so don’t take it too seriously and destroy your sleep over things outside of your control.
3: Learn to enjoy the rain
People will be jealous, they will hate you for your quick success. But If no one hates you, no one is paying attention. Just think about every single person that you’re currently paying attention to – most probably at some point in their lives, they were in your exact position. They kept at it and worked enough so that others started listening. Learn to experience true freedom through the things you do on a daily basis.
Yes, we had tons of work and we were going 24/7 but we managed to survive by going our own way. We traveled the world and worked from exotic islands, underneath the Eiffel Tower or from a juicy meadow somewhere in the Alps. Work can be as fun as you make it, just believe in yourself and become a Do-er!
